OBITUARY

Makenzie Pies, age 15 of rural LaBolt who died August 22, 2017, as the result of a vehicular accident.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 28, at 2:00 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. Rev. Bill Cornelius will officiate. Burial will be at Milbank City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 27, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, one hour prior to the service.

Music will be provided by Kristy Tostenson as organist, with special music provided by Curt & Diane Berkner and Tim & Sue DeJong.

Casket bearers will be Doug Lindberg, Dennis Lindberg, Dale Lindberg, Larry Nielson, Roy Grohs, and Jess Wolff.

Honorary bearers will be all of her friends.

Makenzie was born on May 15, 2002 in Milbank, SD. She was the daughter of Daniel Pies and Robin Amberg-Pies. She has an older brother, Daniel, and a younger sister, Taylar.

Makenzie grew up in the Milbank area and went to high school in Milbank, where she completed the 9th grade. Makenzie is a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed, and active in the youth group.

Makenzie was always willing to help others and was very generous. She loved her sports, camping fishing, and hunting. She loved her horses, chickens, and was a definite “country girl” - some would call a “Red Neck Girl”.

Many saw Makenzie as a hard worker, dedicated to her friends, family and studies. She had a great sense of humor and was outspoken. Makenzie was comfortable with herself and didn’t care what others thought. She would do anything for anyone and could be counted on as a responsible person.

Left to cherish her memory are her parents: Daniel Pies of LaBolt, SD; and Robin Amberg-Pies of Milbank, SD; siblings: Daniel Pies of LaBolt, SD, and Taylar Pies of Milbank, SD; grandparents: Robert and Nancy Amberg of Wessington Springs, SD; Margaret Lindberg of Milbank, SD; and Clarence (Ruth) Pies of Rapid City, SD.
