 EDEN - Helen Arlene Engevik, 89, Eden, died Monday, April 5, 2010, in a care center at Sisseton.
   Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church, rural Eden, with  the  Rev. Dick Grorud officiating. Pianist will be Sheila Oreskovich with special music by Christina and  Marretta  Osthus.
  Burial will be in the Buffalo Lake Lutheran Cemetery, rural Eden. Honorary pallbearers  will be his friends  and neighbors. Active pallbearers will be Bill Malcolm, Marlyn Lindahl, Leonard  Johnson, Kevin Valnes,  Rory Iverson and David Hovland.
  Visitation will be today (Friday) from 4  to 7 p.m. in the Cahill Funeral Chapel at Sisseton.
  Helen Arlene Evjen was born Dec. 25, 1920, in  Troy to John and Agnes (Osterkil) Evjen, the second  oldest of nine children. She attended Troy school  through the eighth grade while she worked for the  Aaronsons family. She worked for a time on NYA, in  Watertown as a housekeeper for the Rev. Oscar  Hanson and later in Sioux Falls for the Lyle Olson  family.
  Nov. 28, 1948, she married Soren Engevik in the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Troy.  They lived on the  southeast corner of Buffalo Lake near Eden where they farmed and raised Angus  cattle. They lived there  until the fall of 2003, when they moved to the Tekakwitha Nursing Center in  Sisseton.
  She was a member of the Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church, where she took part in  Ladies Aid and the  activities they sponsored. She enjoyed her family, visiting with friends, reading,  singing, listening to  music and praying.
  She was preceded in death by her husband in 2006 and  twin infant sons, Ole John and John Ole.
  Survivors include five children, Luther Engevik of  Eden, Maurice Engevik of Eden,  Katherine (David) Osthus of Eagan, Minn., Marshall (Lori) Engevik of  St. Cloud, Minn., and  Albert Engevik of Watertown, Minn.; six grandchildren; two brothers, Raynard  (Marilyn) Evjen of  Stockholm and John (Joyce) Evjen of Lake Mills, Iowa; one sister, Vivian Larson of  Watertown; and  two sisters-in-law, Joyce Evjen of Strandburg and Dorothy Barck of Marshall,  Minn.
