John Anderson Evjen, whose death occurred Sunday, May 20th, was born Sept 26th, 1839, in Norway. He came to America in 1868 and April 8th the following year was united in marriage with Marit Arneson, the ceremony being performed by Rev. C. T. Lindquist at Newburg, Fillmore county. They resided in Fillmore county thirty two years, moving from there to Milan, Chippewa county, where they made their abode for thirteen years. From Milan they came to the Boyd community, taking up their residence with their daughter, Mrs. Elvin Kaupang. Mrs. Evjen passed away a few years ago. The funeral for Mr. Evjen took place Tuesday from the Boyd Trinity church, Rev. G. S. Froiland officiating. The pall bearers were Ole Flaa, Amund Johnson, Anfin Nelson, Gilbert Dahl, Ole O. Uveness and Ole Kaupang. Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were Mrs. Wm. Frey and daughter of Beardsley, Arnt Evjen and son Albert of Fillmore, and Mr. and Mrs. Dallen of Milan.
