Shirley Sundstrom, 85, of Paynesville, died on Saturday, May 21, 2005, surrounded by her family at her home at 700 Stearns Place in Paynesville.
The funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, at the Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Shirley was born July 29, 1919, in Spring Valley, Wis., the daughter of Joseph and Bertha (Moll) Schultz. She grew up in Spring Valley where she graduated from high school in 1937.
On March 23, 1940, she married Arby Sundstrom in St. Paul. Following their marriage they lived in St. Paul until 1979 when Shirley moved to Paynesville.
For 20 years, Shirley worked as an insurance agent.
Shirley has served as worthy matron of the Eastern Star; has served as secretary and president of the Paynesville Senior Center; and was a former member of the Paynesville American Legion Auxiliary. She worshipped at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
Shirley is survived by four children, Dennis (Barb) Sundstrom of Scandi, Kathleen (Ed) Webb of Paynesville, Marnie (Brian) Peterson of Orono, and Warren (Pat) Sundstrom of Spicer; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Idell Hinzman of Albany, Ore. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, one brother, and two sisters.
